Christmas Rice Krispie Houses

It's safe to say that I absolutely LOVE Christmas! It's truly such a special, magical time of year. The decorations, cool weather, hot coco, cozy sweaters…ahhhh perfection! The best part about the holidays, though, is getting to spend it with the people I love most! I had such a blast hanging out with some dear friends making rice krispie houses (like gingerbread houses, only better!)

To get the shape, we used the house mold that came inside the kit I found at the Christmas Tree Shops. 

They were SO easy to make, fun to decorate, and best of all, absolutely delicious to EAT!

Fall Wreath with Burlap Bow

I can't get over how wonderful this fall weather is! The leaves are turning and it's beginning to look stunningly beautiful everywhere I go!

The gorgeous leaves have inspired me to make an autumn wreath! I wanted something that would be full of all the rich, warm colors of the season. I picked out different items with varying colors and textures to make my wreath look full and lush. I found them at Dollar Tree, Michael's, & Hobby Lobby.

After putting everything together, I thought it needed a casual bow to finish it off. I decided on a thick, simple burlap to give it the finishing touch. I love how it turned out!

Shower Curtain Revamp

My mom had the cutest idea, and I just had to share! She wanted a way to dress up her master bathroom and give it a little something extra. She had some sheer window treatments on hand and decided to use one of them to pull through the shower hooks giving it a puffy, decorative touch. She already had the deep red shower curtain, so they worked perfectly together.

I think it turned out absolutely adorable! How creative was that?!

Glass Hurricanes with Rope Detail

I've been eyeing the gorgeous glass hurricanes at Pottery Barn, Ballard Designs, Pier One etc. for what seems like an eternity! I figured I could make some for much less. I actually found my matching pair at the Ross for $3.99 each. They had all sizes and shapes, but for this project, I choose to go with the more simple, stalkier size that was about 11 inches tall.

To give it that trendy chic, rustic touch, I picked up some rope at Lowes. I couldn't believe how cheap it was..less than $3 bucks!

All I did was wrap the rope around my glass hurricanes until I found the right number of times I wanted it to circle around. After that, I tied a double knot extremely tight in the middle.

I chose not to hot glue mine to the glass, but that could definitely be an option if you didn't want the rope to move anywhere.

Once finished, I cut the rope off at the end, and...Viola! Such an easy and chic way to dress up a dining room table, bookshelf, mantle, and more!

Cream Painted Cabinet Makeover

I love to spend time scrolling though ads on Craigslist. One thing I always look for is solid pieces of wood furniture that are offered at a great price. Sure, they will likely need a little TLC, but that's part of the fun!
I fell in love with this adorable piece I saw online for $40 bucks. It was just the size & style I was looking for for some additional storage.

The original color was a green color, but I knew I wanted something more neutral. I painted all of the edges of the piece with a grayish blue color so that when I distressed it, that would be the color that would show through.

After that, I painted the piece a solid cream color I actually found on the paint clearance at Wal-Mart. I used 2 coats of paint and painted the interior of it as well. After the paint was dry, I sanded the edges to give it some distressing, and coated the piece in a clear sealer to help protect it.

I didn't mind the original hardware that came on it, so I was happy to reuse those and put them back on.

Here's a close up of how it turned out. I love that this piece can be used in so many different ways. I'm absolutely thrilled with the outcome!

Funky Deco Mesh Wreath

It's almost Mother's Day so I wanted to give my mom a little something personalized to go with her gift. I decided on making a wreath that she could use as an everyday piece. She is very fun so I wanted something to suit her personality! Here's what I came up with:

The wreath perfectly fits her funky style and was so fun to make! I started with brown deco mesh and added various patterns of ribbons on top of that. From there, I tied small white ribbons on each divider and added some gold coral pieces to give it the texture and fullness I was looking for. I'm happy to say that she absolutely LOVED it!
